So what is the point in your cochlear implant if you can't hear anything at all? You told me that when you were playing warhammer that your guildmates had such excellent mics it was like they were next to you IRL, which would imply that you can hear people standing next to you IRL.
So which is it? A. You are completely deaf B. You can actually hear people to a certain extent C. You're an appalling and unfunny troll
B. Usually I keep saying A because it's just much... much easier in my gameplay. I normally don't go into details, but if you were in my shoes and went to fanfest:
Show up to fanfest, find people you -may- have met in the game, talk with them... Other people find me or the people I'm talking to and it turns into a group... social activity? Anyways, so it's me, the guy I found, and some random person joining our conversation so it's a 3 way conversation.
It is exceedingly hard for me to understand anything because I rely on both sound (but seeing as how it's fanfest, there may/may not be a lot of background noise, so I rely lipreading) and lipreading. Normally, on 1v1 I can lipread quite well - but... in a 3-way conversation, I have to keep looking back and forth. It's hard, believe me.
That being said, saying B in-game also makes it harder because when I join corporations or go into a 'testing' of said corporation and say B - they'll be like "Hey, hop on vent! We'll see how it goes."
First person's mic is crap, so they say "well, let's try with someone else" - their mic is a little crappier and I can understand them just a little... and boom, they'll say "GREAT! THATS OKAY DUDE, LETS GO KILL PPL"
So we're going out there, and I can't detect any important crap in vent because they are too busy talking about what happened three years ago and then immediately do say something EVE-related, but I can never catch it because I've already concluded they were talking about three years ago.. and I'm sure as hell not going to focus with the fullest of my willpower to see if there is a change from this random conversation to something EVE-related.
In short, my life is hard. But if you really wanted to know what happened IRL, I say B. All the time. In-game... I say A because usually B just brings me more trouble than A, text-relayers are so nice that I depend on them most of the time.
